What is chemical peel?

Chemical Peel is a treatment that can improve skin texture and brightness. A chemical solution will be applied on the face. Based on different skin concerns and textures, technicians will choose distinct chemical solutions. The chemical solution is intended to remove the outermost layer of the skin by inducing a controlled injury to the skin. Resulting wound healing processes begin to regenerate new tissues. The dead skin eventually peels off. The regenerated skin is usually smoother and brighter.

Chemical Peel is not only good for face but also neck and hands.

Chemical Peel can help:

  1. Reduce fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth
  2. Treat wrinkles caused by sun damage and aging
  3. Reduce the appearance of mild scars
  4. Treat certain types of acne and breakouts
  5. Reduce age spots, freckles, and dark patches (melasma) due to pregnancy or taking birth control pills
  6. Improve the overall texture of the skin
  7.

Is chemical peel suitable for everyone?

Chemical peel is almost suitable for everyone. However, there are still certain groups of people who are not suggested to get chemical peel:

  • pregnant women
  • breast-feeding women
  • people who have been prescribed Accutane in the past twelve months
    Individuals with darkly pigmented skin

For safety and the optimum result, it is not recommended that people do chemical peel at home by themselves. With professional help, your doctor/aesthetic therapists can help you decide what depth of peel and what type of chemical solution are most appropriate, based on your skin type, which areas you want peeled, what kind of results you want, how much risk you are willing to take, and other issues.

What to expect after chemical peel?

The skin will become especially sensitive after a chemical peel. It is essential to practice strict sun avoidance during and after the healing process. Depending on the depth of peel, some people may have redness or swelling after the treatment, which is more likely to happen after a severe chemical peel.
