Facial redness, flushing and broken capillaries, spider veins, thread veins are all increasingly common skin concerns for many – especially for those suffering from inflammatory skin disorders such as rosacea. Often anyone suffering from facial redness will also notice small spider-like veins on the surface of the skin. Typically across the cheeks, nose and chin. These blood vessels are tiny capillaries near the skin’s surface that have broken after being overworked and dilating too much and often become progressively worse with time. At CML our special laser treatments are designed to restore youthfulness back into your skin, so you can feel good with your skin at all times.
Our proven Spider Vein & Redness Reduction treatments
Here at CML, we offer a fast, effective and safe solution to remove thread veins and reduce facial redness.
Using the Harmony XL Pro laser and most up-to-date AFT technology; this fourth-generation IPL laser treatment penetrates deep into the skin, shattering and destroying the broken capillaries. It takes just 30 minutes, and does not either require an anaesthetic. Leaving a clearer complexion and significantly reduced facial redness.
At CML we are proud to provide treatments for all types of problems with the use of the DYE-VL Pro. The DYE-VL Pro effectively treats Rosacea, Vascular lesions, Venuous malformation or Spider angiomas (single dilated blood vessels), Port wine stains (tend to darken and thicken as the person ages), Hemangiomas (grow rapidly after birth, but usually disappear with time), Spider veins, and Stretch marks that are red in coloration. The Pulsed Dye Laser is a device that produces a bright light that is absorbed by abnormal blood vessels, which are destroyed without damaging the surrounding skin.
What causes facial redness?
Stimulation of capillaries causes constant dilating and contracting and, with over-stimulation, can these capillaries eventually break, as the vessels are thin and fragile. This mean that redness and inflammation is not a readily controlled. This is much like if you were to continually stretch an elastic band – eventually, over time, it would just snap. This can occur naturally; however, there are numerous factors that can contribute to increased damage to your capillaries, including:
- Genetics,
- Hormones
- Inflammation
- Rosacea
- Illness
Additional lifestyle factors include:
- Excess sun exposure
- Sunburn
- Sun beds
- Smoking
- Harsh weather conditions
- Extreme temperatures
- Stress
- Over-processing the skin with harsh products
- Excess spicy foods or caffeine
- Medication
How does the treatment work ?
To tackle the issue of broken blood vessels, we use DYE-VL technology; this is a fourth generation IPL laser treatment that penetrates deep into the skin. This Dye-VL light treatment is attracted to the broken blood vessels on the surface of the skin causing coagulation of the vessel and destroying the broken capillaries. These broken capillaries are then removed by the body’s lymphatic system, leaving a more clear and flawless complexion.
What does the treatment involve?
Prior to any laser treatment a consultation and patch test will need to be carried out to ensure suitability of treatment. On the day of treatment no numbing or anaesthetic is required so your laser specialist will apply a cooling gel. The laser will then be moved over the skin targeting all areas of redness.
This powerful and effective laser takes just 30 minutes, and does not either require anaesthetic or, unlike traditional ablative laser resurfacing, burn the skin’s outer layer. As a result, redness and downtime are minimized.
What can be treated?

What are the aftercare requirements?
- Immediately after treatment there may be redness and swelling at the treatment area, this may feel like mild sunburn
- The application of a cool pack during the first few hours after treatment will reduce any discomfort
- The application of aloe vera gel can continue at home
- Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation or darker pigmentation. Sunscreen SPF30 is a MUST
- Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin any areas of pigmentation this may darken
- Avoid hot baths, exercise and heat treatments and treat the skin gently, as if you had sunburn, for the first 48 hours
What to expect after treatment?
Usually after treatment there can be some localised swelling in the area including the eye area and and this can often be worse in the mornings for the next few days. You will notice the darkening of thread veins and pigment spots. This is completely normal and will subside in a few days. This is actually a sign that the treatment has been very effective.
