Is Anti-Aging Only For Women?

Skincare is not only for women but also for men. Fine lines come with growing age, which is the result of losing collagen from your cells. Here are a few tips for men to start taking care of the skin:

1. Wash face twice a day

A rinse in the shower is not enough to get your face clean. Aim to wash your face both in the morning and at night (plus after workouts). Here’s a no-frills approach: Use lukewarm water and your fingertips to suds up, then rinse and pat dry. Opt for a cleanser that contains glycolic acid to help slough off dead skin cells, which can make skin look dull.

It can thoroughly cleanse the surface and pores of the skin without stripping essential natural oils.

2. Apply moisturizers

A good moisturizer is crucial for keeping skin hydrated after washing. And hydrated skin helps make wrinkles less noticeable. In the daytime, do not forget to apply sunscreen, because sun exposure is one of the most common causes of wrinkles. At night, using antioxidant-rich moisturizers can help skin cells produce more collagen to fix the skin damage from different causes.

3. Laser away lines

If the above skincare strategies aren’t packing enough punch, ask your dermatologist about pulling out the big guns—or at least the big lights. A procedure called non-ablative laser therapy helps tackle acne scars as well as wrinkles and fine lines. It targets and stimulates the dermis—the collagen-producing layer of skin—so you produce more collagen and get tighter, plumper skin. Because the process improves skin elasticity, you’ll continue to see improvements for two to three months after the procedure. More aggressive ablative laser therapies get rid of dead or unhealthy skin cells on the surface at the same time they stimulate the dermis.

4. Try Botox and Fillers

Botox is a great place for both men and women to start to smooth out the smile lines around the eyes and the frown lines on the forehead.

You should start Botox injections BEFORE you have wrinkles. Repeated movement of facial muscles leads to etched-in lines on the face. Botox relaxes the muscles in the face, thus preventing fine lines from even forming.

There is a difference between Botox and Fillers. Fillers are a jelly-like substance that are used to fill in hollows in the face. Botox is absorbed into the skin and will never look puffy or cause bumps or make you look “fake” if it is done correctly. But both of them are effective on reducing wrinkles. Depending on different people, the doctor will customize the plan for each person.
